3 Skin Care Myths, Busted

When it comes to understanding skin care, there are many common skin care myths and misconceptions. Knowing the difference between myth and fact can lead to better decisions when taking care of your skin. Here are three big myths that you should know the truth about:

Myth 1: Tanning helps clear up acne.

FACT: UV rays dry the skin and can actually make the skin condition worse.

Solution: Use sensitive-skin facial sunscreen that won't clog pores.

Myth 2: Acne occurs because your face is dirty.

FACT: Acne is caused by pores clogged with naturally produced oils, dead skin cells and bacteria.

Solution: Wash your face twice daily (not more) and use a gentle cleanser.

Myth 3: Facial moisturizers lead to more acne.

FACT: False, but it is important to use the right type of moisturizer.

Solution: For oily skin, use an oil-free moisturizer that won't clog pores.
