How to Make the Perfect Bubble Bath

By Sarah Parker Ward

Everyone deserves a little time for self-indulgence, and there’s no joy quite like treating yourself to a heavenly soak in the tub. Easier than trying to coordinate a sitter for a day at the spa, an at-home bubble bath can still be every bit as rejuvenating. Follow these simple tips for the world’s most relaxing bubble bath.

How to make a bubble bath

Get in the zone: It’s a common misconception that the perfect bubble bath takes place at night. Wrong-o! Rather, it’s whatever time you know you won’t be interrupted.

Pour yourself some happiness: Whether a cup of herbal tea, an ice-cold seltzer, or some other libation, fetch yourself something delightful to sip before you slip in. You don’t want your own bath to end early because of thirst!

Treat yourself to extra-soft, real bar soaps from Le Petit MarseillaisTM. Dermatologically tested, they clean and respect your skin by providing flexibility and softnesss.

Fill it up, buttercup: Let warm-hot water run until the tub is at least halfway full, adding in your personal favorites of bubble bath, Epsom salt, and/or a few drops of essential oils.

Turn on the tunes: While the tub fills, find a track that soothes your soul, and let it play (from the safety of your bathroom counter or another dry area, of course, if using a portable electronic device).

Master the art of the mask: While multitasking is probably the last thing on your mind, your motherhood status means you’re already an ace at it. So, while you soak, let a mask work its magic on your face. Try a traditional pore-minimizing mud mask or the more modern moisturizing Korean sheet masks.

Exfoliate: Scrub-a-dub-dub! Use a loofah or exfoliating brush to gently clean away dead skin cells from your shoulders down to your toes, revealing the softer, smoother skin underneath.

Wrap up: Be gentle to that squeaky-clean skin when drying off, and wrap yourself in a soft robe instead of roughly towel-drying.

Don’t forget the post-tub love: Complete your pampering with a thorough lathering in a moisturizing body lotion. It will help keep your skin feeling silky smooth and extend that rejuvenated feeling for hours to come!

Is a bubble bath a magical cure-all? Not really. But it is an amazing way to relax and indulge yourself in the comfort of your own home. So even if you don’t feel like you should take the time, we think you deserve to make the time!
