Kate Bryan of The Small Things Blog in her holiday makeup look

Nothing says the holidays like a red lip, but I love experimenting with lip colors and choosing brighter, bolder shades, too. And that’s especially relevant for wintertime to make up for the loss in color in my skin (goodbye sun-kissed skin!). I’m walking you through the steps for a very easy holiday look using a few great products from Neutrogena® and AVEENO®!

First things first, let’s have a quick chat about hyaluronic acid. This is a bit new to me, but it is incredible at delivering moisture to the skin and keeping it hydrated. If you have dry skin like me, I suggest looking into products with it!

First: Lip treatment & pre-foundation moisturizing.

I started this makeup look by applying Neutrogena® Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Treatment and letting it soak in while I did the rest of the makeup. Before applying foundation, I used the AVEENO® MaxGlowTM Infusion Drops on my skin for extra moisture. It felt like a tiny drop of silk that sunk in immediately! These can be used alone or mixed into your favorite moisturizer!

Next: the smokey eye.

A quick tip for a smokey eye is to start with browns and add darker colors as you layer. To achieve the look, I started with a shimmery light taupe shade on the lid, added a chocolate brown to the crease, and then added a soft cat eye with black eyeliner. Graduating the color to the outer part of your eye helps define the eye shape and reinforce the cat eye look! Then, I used Neutrogena® Hydro Boost Plumping Mascara (which also has hyaluronic acid) to add tons of volume to my lashes for that “wow” factor.

Finally: a glossy finish.

I finished my holiday look with a few layers of Neutrogena® Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Shine (again, it’s got that amazing hyaluronic acid in it!) to create a shiny candy-apple red shade on my lips. Sometimes it’s a nice change-up to choose a gloss instead of a lipstick, especially with a bold color!

This holiday makeup look is timeless and works for nearly any holiday event you have planned this season!
